Bottomland Farm

We're a small-scale, family farm located in Newark Valley in Tioga County, NY.

We raise heritage breed, forage-based meats using methods that focus on the health and well-being our livestock and the land we raise them on.

Farm-raised rabbit “can produce six pounds of meat on the same amount of feed and water it takes a cow to produce
just one pound,” and thrive on alfalfa, rather than energy intense soy or corn, creating a highly sustainable meat option. At Bottomland Farm, we raise American Chinchilla Rabbits, a heritage breed popular in the 1920s, as our main breeding stock. We feed locally-sourced forage when possible and focus our time on the welfare and treatment of all of our livestock.

The rabbit we sell is processed in a 5A facility as required by NY state law, and is sold whole, generally ranging in size between 2 -3 pounds.

$4/lb Whole

We raise Freedom Ranger broiler chickens, a great alternative to the typically produced rapidly growing cornish-cross broiler chickens. They thrive in pastured environments and produce a succulent meat with more yellow omega 3 fat and less saturated fat than fast growing breeds.

$4.50/lb HCW including processing

Our pigs are a mix of heritage and commercial breeds that we raise on pasture. Throughout the summer, we rotate our hogs over grass, supplementing their feed with local apples, waste produce and pumpkins from nearby farms.
